A case of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia, treated surgically at the Chosun University Hos-pital, is reported.
The patient, 35-year old male, who had a history of receiving a stab wound on the left lower chest about 5 years ago, suddenly developed severe dyspnea, lower abdominal traction pain and recurrent vomiting. 5 days prior to admission and they were persisted up to the date of admis-sion.
The traumatized lesion, of the diaphragm was closed by two layers interrupted silk sutures through the transthoracoabdominal approach with a good result.
Various stages for clinical discovery of the disease and pertinent chest X-ray and helpful physical findings in making the diagnosis was briefly discussed together with a limited review of the literatures on the subject.
